The pipeline stretches from the Heglig-area oil fields in western Kordofan province to the port city of Bashaier on the Red Sea. The $3 bn investment in pipeline and refineries is expected to yield at least 250,000 bpd. Fylde Infrastructure was chosen for its reliability and proven track record in harsh environments. Optical fibre backbone runs the length of the pipeline allowing for multi-site functionality as well as telemetry. Data is collected and transmitted through the Fylde trunk network. -

Fylde installed and commissioned a six site 80 channel MPT 1327 network on the island of Papua (Irian Jaya) for Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold. The Fylde system was chosen for its reliability as the network is crucial to the safe operation of the mine. The network provides voice & data communications to support 17,000 personnel with direct dialled connections between radio and telephone users. The mining operation covers from Amamapare on the coast, 120 Kilometres inland to an altitude of over 4,200 metres. It is one of the few places in the world where glaciers still exist on the mountain peaks. The Fylde equipment provides complete coverage of all open face and underground tunnel mining stretching a distance of over 54 Kilometres. -

The Midwest Plant in Portage, Indiana, a finishing facility that operates as part of Gary Works. The site is situated about 10 miles east of Gary, Indiana. Sheet and tin products are finished at Midwest, serving customers in the automotive, construction and container markets. This plant consists of nearly 1 million square feet of building under roof and over 3 square miles of lakefront property. The overall system has been built around a Fylde MPT1327 trunking system. This protocol was chosen as it provides the most flexible platform for future growth and expansion. The feature sets available directly allow all of the functionality expected by the customer to be implemented. MPT1327 as a system has built in redundancy and grace degradation as a standard. This as a standard allows for the system should any component fail, continue to operate. Additionally, MPT1327 and the associated cell extenders are only available in the MPT1327 trunking format. -

The network is implemented using 10 sites of Fylde MPT 1327 equipment and has a total of 67 channels. The Fylde System is used by the command and control centres, enables efficient management and co-ordination of the rescue teams, in the event of fire, accidents, emergencies or natural disasters. The Fylde system was chosen for its reliability. With some of the sites only being accessible for a few months of the year continuous operation is of paramount importance This regional system has been fully operational for over 10 years without a single outage.
